There is a discrepancy when it comes to the tubers in Malaysia. The call taro, YAM. and there is no such thing as TARO to them (us - since I am from Malaysia) What is YAM here (orange colored tuber) is called sweet potato in Malaysia. So if you eat at any other malaysian/indonesian restaurants that retain the name of the dishes and not Americanize it, you should expect YAM to be TARO and Sweet potato to be YAM.

Hi Henry,
I’ve never tried to make a yam pot before, but I’d love to learn how as well. It’s delicious!

Thanks Juji!
To me taro tastes less sweet and also has a chalky texture that I don’t usually find in yams.

Now yams and sweet potatoes… can’t seem to tell those ones apart!

yeah, it probably is taro.

but i know that my mum and grandmother (for examples) can barely describe why taro and yam are two different things. i’m convinced when asian menus are concerned – taro and yam are one and the same.
